We live in a video driven world where we have access to tons of information through YouTube and other video hosting platforms. Sites like Khan Academy have taken this innovation to the education arena where students can search for tutorials and find resources that will help with studying and reinforcing learning concepts. Students may not feel comfortable asking the teacher to repeat important concepts, but with video, they are able to pause and rewind.
As teachers, we should not leave it up to the “experts” to provide content for our students; we should start to author our own content. With the help of screencasting software, webcams, and our Google Drive, we can do just that.
Take a look at the video below to see how to record and distribute a simple webcam explanation video. Teachers who are interested in modeling concepts with annotation, should definitely check out our videos on the iMMpad and the Document Camera.
